Stress Relief with Laughter Yoga

Cleveland Park Library

7 p.m.
Laughter yoga is a group exercise of voluntary and prolonged laughter. Thought by practicioners to provide many of the same physiological and psychological benefits of physical exercise, laughter yoga is built on eye contact, physical touch, and playful games amongst participants. You’ll learn the basics of laughing techniques, laughter “ignition,” and meditation. At the end, you’ll be asked to share your experience and hug to two students you didn’t know before the class.

When and how do you make time for yourself? Many of us lead busy, over-scheduled lives. Developing a home yoga practice can help you stay grounded and present. Whether you’re new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, this class will give you strategies for cultivating a personal practice. Learn about different breathing (pranayama) and meditation exercises, poses (asanas), and self-care regimens. You will leave with a manageable routine for your home practice, attuned to your schedule and needs.

Yoga for Couples uses relaxation yoga and meditation techniques.  This class is available to beginners with no experience necessary, and mats or props are not required.  The event is open to friends and couples… just come with a partner!   The instructor, Lisa Britton, is the founder of Practicing Wellness LLC.  She also is an attorney in Washington, D.C.
