Summer Reading atomThree scientists from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center will talk about how satellites are used to observe the Earth from space, and how satellite observations then improve our understanding of the state of the Earth's oceans, land surface, and atmosphere, including how satellite observations are combined with numerical models of the atmosphere to produce weather forecasts.

skeletonHave you ever watched an episode of Bones or CSI and wondered how the forensic scientists are able to identify someone using just a tooth? Come to the Forensic Mystery Workshop! This program is a science workshop designed to teach teens about forensic science in a hands on way. Teens will get the chance to examine a set of bones and other evidence to determine the identity of an unknown person. Attend this program and earn the STEM badge.

Energize DCThe DC Public Library and Pepco are working together this summer to present classes  at your local library about energy management. As part of this program, our library branches will be holding educational classes designed to help you take control of your energy use. You will learn how to use Pepco’s online energy management tools and create personalized energy management plans. Come to the DCPL Jigsaw Puzzle Swap, hosted every three months, to keep your puzzle collection fresh! Bring a 500+ piece puzzle without any missing pieces to trade for one that's new-to-you! Spread the word so there will be more puzzles to choose from. For our younger puzzle lovers, bring easy puzzles/games to play or trade (we have a special request for princess puzzles). September's edition of the Puzzle Swap will be held at the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library.
