Recommended for ages 4-12. All children under 9 must be supervised by a parent or guardian over the age of 13.

Don't Eat The Baby: Adventures at Post-Katrina Mardi Gras shows the city of New Orleans banding together to throw the 2005 Mardi Gras celebration just six months after Hurricane Katrina, and the flooding that followed, decimated the city. 

Don't Eat the Baby will be shown in the large meeting room on the second floor on September 10 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Running time is 84 minutes.

The film will be viewed through IndieFlix, one of DC Public Library's new electronic resources. IndieFlix films are not rated by MPAA, but Don't Eat the Baby is listed as appropriate for teens on the IndieFlix website.

LEGOs!Join us for an hour of building and playing with LEGOs! Kids will be given a theme each session to guide their creations, which will be featured on our branch’s website.

Pop-up booksCome into the library on Thursday evenings for stories, songs, crafts and fun for the whole family. For this program, we will be using some of our special collection of pop-up books. 

At story time, the librarians will give a short presentation on our collection of pop-up books, some of which are very delicate and must be handled with care. Many of these books are very delicate and not available to check out, but you will be able to read them and handle them in the library!

Please note that young children must handle pop-up books with a parent.

We will also have a craft where you can get started on making your own pop-up cards and other craft creations.

Recommended for ages 4-12.

Crafts at the librarySunday afternoons are for crafts and coloring at Francis Gregory library. Come in and make something to take home - craft, sketch, color, draw or paint!

Children ages 12 and younger and their caregivers are welcome, and all craft supplies will be provided. 

This program is intended for children ages 4-12 and their families.

Every other Sunday, come learn how to shelve books, make displays, or help plan programs. To participate, fill out the Teen and High School Community Service Application. In this casual but informative workshop, patrons will learn the necessary steps in job seeking, from resume building to interview basics with online resources available completely free of charge through DC Public Library's homepage. Gain access to online tutorials, resume templates, and more with this visual walk-through of the DC Job Seekers website.

Need a change but don't know where to start? DC Job Seekers offers more than just resume building and links to job search engines. Use the Career Exploration Web Guide to find descriptions of vocational and technical careers, or use Career Zone to assess yourself and the job best suited for you.

STEM Mondays at the library!STEM is an acronym for fields of study in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Join us after school every other Monday as we explore STEM concepts and activities. We'll be doing experiments, studying nature, doing real world math problems and even taking the Hour of CODE challenge. Hour of CODE is an introductory lesson in computer science, where children learn basic concepts of problem solving and programming.
