Origami fox

Do you like Origami, the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures? If so, join us every Tuesday and Thursday where we will make cranes, ties, frogs, foxes and whatever other designs we find! Never done Origami before? Come anyway and learn with us!

Recommended ages 7-12
6:00 p.m.

Pop-up booksCome into the library on Thursday evenings for stories, songs, crafts and fun for the whole family. For this program, we will be using some of our special collection of pop-up books. 

At story time, the librarians will give a short presentation on our collection of pop-up books, some of which are very delicate and must be handled with care. Many of these books are very delicate and not available to check out, but you will be able to read them and handle them in the library!

Please note that young children must handle pop-up books with a parent.

We will also have a craft where you can get started on making your own pop-up cards and other craft creations.

Recommended for ages 4-12.

This program recommended for families with children ages 0-5.

Join us afterwards for our Imaginative Play program.

This series is for people who have never before used a computer.  Participants will learn to use the mouse and keyboard, begin to navigate the Internet and even use email.

Week 1: Intro to Computers
Week 2: Intro to Typing
Week 3: Intro to the Internet
Week 4: Intro to Gmail

For all workshops, students can sign up by either registering ahead of time with Byte Back (202-529-3395) or by showing up at the workshop the day it is scheduled. Registration is first come, first served.

Students who register ahead of time will have a saved spot in the workshop that expires at the start of the class. If a registered student is not in their seat at the start of the class, they may lose their spot to a walk-in student.

Children ages 12 and younger and their caregivers are welcome, and all craft supplies will be provided.

STEM Mondays at the library!STEM is an acronym for fields of study in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Join us after school every other Monday as we explore STEM concepts and activities. We'll be doing experiments, studying nature, doing real world math problems and even taking the Hour of CODE challenge. Hour of CODE is an introductory lesson in computer science, where children learn basic concepts of problem solving and programming.

Recite a poem, short story, or song at our Open Mic Night being held on select Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Show off something you've been working on or share an old favorite.

The sign-up sheet will be posted from Wednesday afternoon until 5:45 p.m. First-come, first-served.

We will meet in the board room upstairs. All ages.
