bookwormWe will sing songs, read books and perform finger plays! Pajama story time is best children ages 2-6 and their adults, but older and younger children are also welcome.

This program will last approximately 20-30 minutes and will take place in the Children's Story Circle.

Pajamas are welcome but not required!

YogaJoin us every Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am for Adult Yoga Class.

Wear some comfortable clothing and bring a mat, but if you don’t have one, yoga mats are available for use during the class.

The classes are taught by Yoga Activist and are held on the lower level of the library in the Larger Meeting Room.
This class is free and open to the public.

12:00 p.m.

Diabetes Support GroupFor anyone diagnosed with Diabetes, pre-diabetes or caring for a diabetic. Healthcare professionals will give educational information and answer questions on food choices, exercise and medicine. We meet the third Saturday of every month. For email or phone updates, leave your information at the Adult Information Desk. Light refreshments. Every third Saturday at 12pm. This program is free and open to all.

Come by and listen to the first chapters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Captain Underpants, and other banned favorites. This program is appropriate for children ages 8-12 and will take place in the children's story circle.

DC Youth Poetry Slam Team
Teens are invited to participate in weekly poetry and spoken word workshops. The D.C. Youth Poetry Slam Team will host bi-weekly workshops on Wednesday afternoons. Call for specific dates.

The D.C. Youth Poetry Slam Team uses poetry to teach and empower teens from the D.C. metropolitan area to speak up about issues of social justice.

Metro Teen AIDSMetro TeenAIDS (MTA) provides free, quick, and confidential HIV/STI testing every month in the parking lot of the Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library. Individuals, ages 13-24, will receive sexual health information and materials, and may get referrals to counseling services.

Join MTA inside Benning the third Thursday of each month, 4:30-7:30 p.m. For more information about Metro TeenAIDS, visit metroteenaids.org or their teen-centered site realtalkdc.org.

If the third Thursday of each month doesn't work for your schedule, try another day of the week! MTA provides HIV/STI testing at three other Library locations through December 2014.

  • Anacostia - second Tuesday of each month
  • Bellevue - fourth Monday of each month
  • Parklands-Turner - first Wednesday of each month
