Children ages 12 and younger and their caregivers are welcome, and all craft supplies will be provided.

google maker campFrancis Gregory Library is now a site for Maker Camp from Google and Make: magazine! Every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, we will be watching a team of makers as they build awesome projects, go on epic virtual "field trips", and interview the world's coolest makers. 

MakerCamp starts at 2 p.m. in the large meeting room upstairs. All kids and teens below the age of 18 welcome. Go to the Maker Camp website for a daily schedule. Call 202-698-6373 with any questions.

If you are interested in learning how to download titles, come to the library for a drop-in clinic where you can explore the digital catalog, overflowing with fiction, nonfiction, audiobooks and videos, and get hands-on help with downloading content to your computer or e-reader. Discover the library is so much more than books, with downloadable movies, music, and more available at your fingertips. All you need is your library card and an internet connection!

Recite a poem, short story, or song at our Open Mic Night every other Wednesday night  until 7:30 p.m. Show off something you've been working on or share an old favorite.

Do you like Origami, the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures? If so, join us every Tuesday and Thursday where we will make cranes, ties, frogs, foxes and whatever other designs we find! Never done Origami before? Come anyway and learn with us!

Pop-up booksCome into the library on Thursday evenings for stories, songs, crafts and fun for the whole family. For this program, we will be using some of our special collection of pop-up books. 

At story time, the librarians will give a short presentation on our collection of pop-up books, some of which are very delicate and must be handled with care. Many of these books are very delicate and not available to check out, but you will be able to read them and handle them in the library!

Please note that young children must handle pop-up books with a parent.

We will also have a craft where you can get started on making your own pop-up cards and other craft creations.

Recommended for ages 4-12.

In this casual but informative workshop, patrons will learn the necessary steps in job seeking, from resume building to interview basics with online resources available completely free of charge through DC Public Library's homepage. Gain access to online tutorials, resume templates, and more with this visual walk-through of the DC Job Seekers website.

Need a change but don't know where to start? DC Job Seekers offers more than just resume building and links to job search engines. Use the Career Exploration Web Guide to find descriptions of vocational and technical careers, or use Career Zone to assess yourself and the job best suited for you.

Discover these job-seeking tools and more at the Francis A. Gregory Library. For those wishing to learn more but unable to stay, handouts with steps for accessing DC Public Library's Job Seekers info will be provided to take home.

STEM Mondays at the library!STEM is an acronym for fields of study in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Join us after school every other Monday as we explore STEM concepts and activities. We'll be doing experiments, studying nature, doing real world math problems and even taking the Hour of CODE challenge. Hour of CODE is an introductory lesson in computer science, where children learn basic concepts of problem solving and programming.
