Exquisite Corpse is a parlor game popular among the Surrealists of the early 20th Century. Players begin with part of a drawing or poem, then pass their creation to their neighbor, who adds the next part of the image or composition without seeing much or any of what has already been done. This yields fun and surprising results.

Join us for a workshop with 826DC! Earn the Express Yourself or Game On badges when you attend this workshop.

There are plenty of students who are more interested in video games than in writing – and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Video games offer an entirely new way to provide and experience narrative. In traditional forms of writing, a lot of the rules are already established – the party’s over. What makes games so compelling is the sense that they often provide of walking into a traditional storytelling experience – but with an added, unfamiliar feeling that you have agency in this world.

In this workshop, students will use the elements and narrative conventions of video games to create stories of their very own.
