Looking for more vitality, better health and an enhanced sense of well-being? Join Karin Silverman as she discusses the many benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle. She will explore how the vegetarian diet is gentle to the planet and how it can enhance our spiritual development. Silverman, who has been meditating for over 40 years, will offer the audience a chance to practice a simple meditation technique.

Join us every Wednesday for a themed story time and a related make-and-take craft project after story time is over.

Designed for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers, the story time will include books, songs, rhymes and finger plays as we continue to strengthen early literacy skills.

Free yoga continues at Southwest Library, but on a new day, new time, and with new Yoga Activist instructor Sandra Flores. As always, all fitness levels are welcome, and mats are provided. For ages 13 and older.

In recognition of Banned Books Week (Sept. 21-27), you are invited to participate in the Ulysses Read a Thon.  From 10 a.m. until 12 noon, individuals may sign up to read 15 minutes of the text of Ulysses.  Just call the library at (202) 724-4298 or stop by the information desk to reserve a time.  Then come to the Southwest Library on Sept. 27 to hear the opening section of James Joyce's masterpiece.

Artist Michael Koliner, creator of the Nonumental Seating Objects in Nonument Park, will discuss his art, the creative process, and the goals he tries to accomplish with his work.

Following his presentation, he will lead a hands-on activity for participants to make a “nonument."

The program is open to all ages. Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
