Children ages 12 and younger and their caregivers are welcome, and all craft supplies will be provided.

Stop by the Children's Room on the second floor to view selected works from the 2014 Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair. This year's theme is "New in Mount Pleasant."

The show is featured here at the library and at surrounding local businesses.

Every Monday afternoon in May (sans Memorial Day), we will be exploring different Asian cultures through various craft activities.

Clip art of a colorful line of koinobori hanging on a poleMay 5 is Children's Day in Japan, and to celebrate we will be making koinobori, fish-shaped wind-socks that are traditionally hung outside of Japanese homes during this holiday.

May 12 - Learn about Indian culture and make your own mandala.

May 19 - We will be making Vietnamese-style moon lutes and drums and (if weather provides) having our own outdoor concert.

Best for ages 6 - 12.

Join us to honor the participants of the Mt. Pleasant Youth Art Fair until 8 p.m. in the Large Meeting Room on the first floor. Participating artists will receive certificates, and prizes for best in show will be presented. 

The artwork relating to this year's theme "New in Mt. Pleasant" will be on display at the Library, in the Children's Room on the Second Floor, and at local businesses May 5-31.

Picture of paper quiltUsing brightly colored card-stock paper, children will produce exquisite creations that reinforce math curriculum ideas from simple patterns, symmetry, and shapes all the way up to fractions and geometry.  The individual squares created will be put together to form a public art “quilt” that will display in the library.
 
Space is limited,  please call ahead to reserve space.

Recite a poem, short story, or song at our Open Mic Night every other Wednesday night  until 7:30 p.m. Show off something you've been working on or share an old favorite.

The sign-up sheet will be posted from Tuesday morning until Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. First-come, first-served.

We will meet in the board room upstairs. All ages.

Join Rosedale in celebrating Mother’s Day with a mother-themed story time, the movie based on Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, and crafts!

Children can make specialized bookmarks as Mother’s Day gifts.

May Day in particular is cause to observe the change in seasons as it is a holiday celebrated in many cultures.

Help us celebrate May Day by participating in our Fairy Festival. We''ll read fairy-related stories and later make a felt flower garland that you can wear!

So don your best pair of wings and join us in the festivities.

Need something to give mom on Mother's Day (May 11)? Never fear! Come to the library and make some beautiful tissue-paper flowers to give her on her special day. Activity recommended for ages 4 - 12.

Writopia LabJoin Writopia Lab DC for a fun creative writing workshop including warm-up games to get students inspired, writing exercises led by published instructors, and an end-of-day reading. Writopia Lab focuses on student-driven instruction, so attendees’ writing will be inspired by ideas they’re already interested in. Workshops provide a safe space for writers to create without judgment; students may write in whatever form they wish, and about whatever content they choose. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop or iPad if they have one. Pen and paper will be provided. For kids ages 10-13
