Have you ever dreamed of producing and editing your own music or talk show? Have you ever wanted to be a broadcast journalist, or create a commercial for the radio or web?

With the help of Audacity, a powerful audio editing software and a little creativity, you could potentially be on your way to starting a new hobby, or perhaps a new career! 

Join the audio editing class in the Digital Commons to learn the basics of creating and editing your own audio files, utilizing the specialized functions of Audacity software. In the class you will learn how to do the following:

  1. Download and install Audacity to your PC.
  2. Record voice and music utilizing a digital microphone. 
  3. Mix high quality music audio with voice recordings using equalization and other studio effects.
  4. Edit both music and voice audio. 
  5. Save audio files to your PC hard drive or flash drive.

The class will explore some of the free programs that are available for download and should soon be available on Digital Commons PCs.  

This introductory course will explore Sketchup Make and the Autodesk-hosted in-browser design program, TinkerCAD.pic

Players will meet on Saturdays from noon until 5 p.m. in the Dream Lab, located in the Digital Commons.  Games are open to Pokémon lovers of all ages and League Leaders will be on hand to moderate.

Participants will gain knowledge and experience in competitive play of the Pokémon video and card games.  Players will also earn free rewards for participation including cards, codes for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, and badges. 

So come ready to trade, to meet other Pokémon fans, and to qualify for tournament play.

Visit the MLK Blog to discover the monthly topic and suggested videos to watch on lynda.com.  Drop into the Digital Commons at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library to access the videos on your tablet or device, or sign up to use our Creative Stations to practice on Adobe tools while you watch.  Once a month, join other Lynda Lounge members to compare notes and share what you've learned at the Lynda Lounge Meetup, on the third Saturday of every month from 2-3:30 p.m.  You only need a library card and an email account to join.  Staff members will check in to offer expertise on the monthly topics.
