Do you help solve problems for a loved one with a long-term illness or disability? Learn practical problem solving strategies and stress management techniques to help deal with caregiving challenges. Also learn about a variety of online resources from the National Library of Medicine to help caregivers prevent and tackle problems.
 
This workshop is part of a five class series based on the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving’s education and support program. The Kadamba Tree Foundation presents this program along with instruction on practical stress management techniques and other tools for family caregivers. Each workshop features a hands-on tutorial on quality health information for family caregivers from the National Library of Medicine.
 
NIH NLM LogoThe last class in the series, Accessing and Developing Resources, will be held in the large meeting room at Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, September 13.

Food Bank logoJoin the Capital Area Food Bank and the Northwest One Library for the monthly Mobile Marketplace program.  The CAFB Mobile Marketplace provides low income families with 30 pounds of fresh farmers market produce.  During the market library staff will share information upcoming programs and provide on site library card registration.

Capital Area Food Bank Mobile Marketplace takes place on the first Saturday of every month.

WalkersPart of our Mature & Motivated program for our patrons who are 50+, Petworth Pacers is a walking fitness program to help you add a little more pep to your step! Look and feel great and make new friends as we explore the neighborhood, share best practices and use library resources to further our knowledge on health and well-being.

Wear comfortable, movement-oriented clothing and make sure to bring a water bottle.  

This program meets in the Second-Floor Program Room and then we'll be going out into the neighborhood for our walk.

Experience a gentle, traditional movement system which emphasizes softness and stability, comfort and awareness as a path to improved health, and find out why it is celebrated by NIH, the Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School.

Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver before joining the class. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement. Chairs will be provided for those who want to take a break and observe. The hour class will begin at 7:30 p.m.
