This story time helps children learn and practice early literacy skills in a fun, playful setting. Story time attendees are encouraged to engage with the librarian all while reading stories, singing songs, and learning new rhymes.  Ages 3-5. Please call 202-698-0183 with questions. This interactive, multi-media exhibit for all ages celebrates the bookmaking of children’s author and illustrator, Brian Selznick—his exquisite artistry, experimentation with form and narrative and spellbinding storytelling. It is timed to engage visitors with Selznick’s work and themes in anticipation of his May 8 lecture and May 9 family program at the library; visit dclibrary.org/selznick for details.

Every year, Mt. Pleasant hosts a public art exhibition of work by local students, so everyone in the community can see what talented kids we have in our midst! Stop by the Children's Room on the second floor to view selected works from the 2015 Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair. This year's theme is "Heroes of Mt. Pleasant." The show is featured here at the library and at surrounding local businesses.

Baby/toddler lap times are story times for babies ages birth through 24 months and their caregivers. Come enjoy books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, bounces, and more! Free tickets are required due to limited space. Tickets are distributed beginning 30 minutes before each story time on a first-come, first-served basis. Have a group? Please call ahead of time to make special arrangements.
