Every Hero Has a Story

Summer Reading Kick-Off

Mt. Pleasant Library

10 a.m.
Celebrate the start of Summer Reading with us! This year, our theme is "Every Hero Has a Story." Our kick-off celebration will take place during our regularly scheduled Saturday LEGOs! program 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Children's Room on the second floor. Come build a LEGO city and a superhero to save the day! Plus, sign up for Summer Reading and start earning prizes!

Build, explore, and play with LEGOs and DUPLOs in the Children's Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday! This program is designed for children ages 3-12 years old and their caregivers.

Baby/toddler lap times are story times for babies ages birth through 24 months and their caregivers. Come enjoy books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, bounces, and more! Saturday lap time is held upstairs in the children's area of the main reading room. Tickets are not required. Have a group? Please call ahead of time to make special arrangements.

Every year, Mt. Pleasant hosts a public art exhibition of work by local students, so everyone in the community can see what talented kids we have in our midst! Stop by the Children's Room on the second floor to view selected works from the 2015 Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair. This year's theme is "Heroes of Mt. Pleasant." The show is featured here at the library and at surrounding local businesses.

Library Lovers Like to Bike During National Bike Month!

Find out just how many library lovers really like to bike as we celebrate National Bike Month in May 2015! A special bike-to-storytime program is planned in Northeast D.C. and in Northwest D.C., at the beginning and ending of the month!   Saturday, May 2, 9:30-11:30 a.m.: Bicyclists of all ages will meet at Southeast Neighborhood Library by 10 a.m. for a ride to Northeast Neighborhood Library, where we will join other Ward 6 families and enjoy an outdoor celebration with stories, crafts and snacks!
