Wonderful Ones & Twos Story Time

Join us for a fun, interactive story time that encourages early language and literacy skills through stories, songs, and rhymes. Wonderful Ones & Twos is for children that are walking up to and including age two. You must register each week for this program. Please email tenleylibrary@dc.gov to register.

Baby/Toddler Lap Time

Baby/toddler lap times are story times for babies ages birth through 24 months and their caregivers. Come enjoy books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, bounces, and more! Free tickets are required due to limited space. Tickets are distributed beginning 30 minutes before each story time on a first-come, first-served basis. Have a group? Please call ahead of time to make special arrangements.

Need a place to sit and chat with friends, play games, or just chill? Come to the Afterschool Lounge on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and use the library's large conference room as a group study room, game space, lounge and snack area. Board and card games are available. Food and drinks are welcome.  Crafts, trivia tournaments, video games, and other activities will be available on a rotating basis. Ages 11-19.

Purim Party

Join us for a Purim Party! Please dress up as a hero or a villain as we read stories of princesses (and princes!) who rescue themselves and their communities. We will also decorate our own paper crowns. This program is recommended for children ages 3 and older.

In recognition of Selma Week, commemorating the 50th Anniversary Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March, local historian, author and lecturer C.R Gibbs will lead a lecture: “Courage for the Struggle: African Americans and the Vote.” Join us for this lively and informative presentation. French Story Time

French Story Time is for children of all ages. This program includes songs, music and motion and is very interactive. Children have the opportunity to learn Fench songs, practice their French, and connect words with motion, as well as enjoy stories. Come and join us every Thursday at 4 p.m. (except on holidays!)

Shooting Stars Dance Class

Shooting Stars is back! A hip-hop and modern class for young dancers ages 6-12 on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Class list will be determined by attendance on Jan. 8, Jan. 15, and Jan. 22, so come on these dates to get a slot, as the program fills up fast. Students will create choreography, sets, and costumes, and class will culminate in a recital at the end of April.

For Women's History Month, we visit a tale of a legendary woman from ancient China. In Disney's retelling of a classic Chinese poem, a girl disguises herself as a boy to take her father's place in the army and fight the invading Huns. Will the Huns conquer China? Will she be discovered? Come to our sing-a-long and find out! This film is rated G, with a runtime of 90 minutes.
