After the school day is done, come to the Anacostia Library for some Friday fun!  Join us on last Friday of the every month at 4 p.m. for Game Day in the children's room! There will be board and Wii games available to play and enjoy. Light refreshments will be served.

Tween Book Club: 'The Fourteenth Goldfish'

This month we are reading The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer Holm. Ellie's scientist grandfather has discovered a way to reverse aging, and consequently has turned into a teenager--which makes for complicated relationships when he moves in with Ellie and her mother, his daughter. As an extra special treat, one lucky ready will read a copy of the book signed by the author!

Women's History Ride with Women & Bicycles and DCPL

Support empowering women by hitting the road with us!   The Washington Area Bicycle Association's Women & Bicycles and DC Public Library are empowering women through biking!  This feminist history-themed bike ride will stop at four DCPL branches (Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Anacostia and Southwest) for women’s history-related activities and will also feature a photo booth, snacks, and some surprises along the way!

Reading aloud to dogs can help build a child’s confidence in reading. Children in grades K-3 can sign up for 20-minute reading slots to read to a dog. Dogs and owners will be joining us from ​Therapy Pets Unlimited, a non-profit organization that specializes in providing therapy dogs for community programs and events.
