A short story time: a couple books, a couple songs. A nice break!

In celebration of Poem in Your Pocket Day, Palisades Branch will host a night of poetry reading for all ages, where members of the audience become the readers!

The schedule is as follows: 

Want to read a poem to the group? Just sign up at the downstairs Reference Desk, and we'll give you a time slot.  Readers of all ages are welcome. All participants who read a poem aloud will receive a small prize.

Select poems submitted by the public will also be read and displayed throughout the evening.

Light refreshments will be served.

Challenge your friends with FIFA Soccer, improve your tennis and bowling games with Wii Sports and travel the galaxy with LEGO Star Wars.

Every Thursday after school during the month of April, we will be creating different kinds of poems in celebration of National Poetry Month.


April 3: Ekphrastic Poetry (writing poems from pictures)
April 10: Paint Chip Poetry
April 17: Poetry from Cut Outs
April 24: Acrostic Poetry

Best for ages 6 - 12.

Kids are invited to read our monthly graphic novel pick and come discuss the book at our Thursday night meeting.

Books are available for checkout at the circulation desk.

Pop-up booksCome into the library on Thursday evenings for stories, songs, crafts and fun for the whole family. For this program, we will be using some of our special collection of pop-up books. 

At story time, the librarians will give a short presentation on our collection of pop-up books, some of which are very delicate and must be handled with care. Many of these books are very delicate and not available to check out, but you will be able to read them and handle them in the library!

Please note that young children must handle pop-up books with a parent.

We will also have a craft where you can get started on making your own pop-up cards and other craft creations.

Recommended for ages 4-12.

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction SitePut on your pajamas, grab your teddy bear and join us in the Children's Room for a story time before heading to bed! 

We'll read stories, sing songs, and perform finger plays together.

This program will last approximately 20-30 minutes and will take place in the Children's Story Circle.

Pajamas are welcome but not required!
