Come read, sing and play with your baby at the library! This story time is held in the Children's Room on the second floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. For children ages birth to 1 and their caregivers. See you there!

Interactive story time with songs, rhymes, and books, for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers. Free tickets are required due to limited space. Tickets are distributed beginning 30 minutes before each story time on a first-come, first-served basis. Have a group? Please call ahead of time to make special arrangements.
Stories, songs, dances, and more in English and Spanish for children ages 0-5 and their adults. For safety's sake, there is a limit of 75 participants for each story time.Remember there is a story time at 10 a.m. and another repeated at 11 a.m. To schedule a class visit, please call 202-671-3125. "How To Be A Hero" is a fun storytelling, reading, writing and drawing program for our Summer Readers, ages 6 - 9. Let’s create cool origin stories with illustrations to explain our superhero names, powers and personalities (also known as “alter egos”)! This program can count towards 1 hour (= 4 colored masks) of Summer Reading credit!
Join us for a fun, interactive story time that encourages early language and literacy skills through stories, songs and rhymes. Wonderful Ones is a caregiver and child program for children that are walking up to and including age two. You must register each week for this program. Baby/toddler lap times are story times for babies ages birth through 24 months and their caregivers. Come enjoy books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, bounces, and more! Saturday lap time is held upstairs in the children's area of the main reading room. Tickets are not required. Have a group? Please call ahead of time to make special arrangements.

Come learn the skills your children need to be ready to learn to read. We'll share tips on how to promote early literacy at home in this interactive presentation in the Children's Room on the Second Floor of the library. Your children are welcome: Every child will receive a free book. The program is for parents and caregivers of children ages birth to 5.
Join us for a fun read-aloud with Nutrition Education Specialist, Laura Hansen. In addition to teaching kids about nutrition and physical activity, this story time aims to build literacy, listening, and group participation skills. Recommended for children between the ages of 5-10.
