Boy Reading BookThis story time helps children with early language and literacy skills through reading stories, singing songs, learning new rhymes and honing visual literacy skills with the librarian.

Baby/toddler lap times are story times geared for babies ages birth to 24 months and their caregivers.

Tickets are required for entry. Tickets are available in the Children's Room 10 minutes before Lap Time begins.

Stories, songs, rhymes, bounces and tickles for non-walkers and their caregivers.

Registration is required. Registration is done on a weekly basis and babies can be registered any time in the week leading up to each Wednesday morning session.

Please note that 10:30 a.m. Baby Time will be ticketed to a maximum of 60 people. Tickets are available free at the Children's Desk, starting at 9:30 a.m. The second Baby Time at 11 a.m. will be the same program but will be open admission.

Wonderful Ones & Twos is a caregiver and child program for children that are walking up to and including age two.

You must register each week for this program.

This program is limited to the first 25 attendees by ticket only. Tickets are available at the children’s reference desk for that day's program. One ticket per person.

Planting a RainbowTo celebrate Earth Week, kids and their parents can enjoy Earth Week-themed story time, which will include Lois Ehlert's Planting a Rainbow and Victoria Kann's Emeraldalicious.

Afterwards, children can play a game called the Recycling Think and Sort, or have fun with an Earth Day craft called Trash Rainbow in which children make a rainbow using recycled items!

Tales for Twos and Threes at MLK Children's RoomChildren will hear short stories, sing, do fingerplays, and dance and move to popular songs. 

Ages 2-3.

A time of stories, songs, and rhymes designed to foster early literacy in infants.

A short story time: a couple books, a couple songs. A nice break!

In celebration of Poem in Your Pocket Day, Palisades Branch will host a night of poetry reading for all ages, where members of the audience become the readers!

The schedule is as follows: 

Want to read a poem to the group? Just sign up at the downstairs Reference Desk, and we'll give you a time slot.  Readers of all ages are welcome. All participants who read a poem aloud will receive a small prize.

Select poems submitted by the public will also be read and displayed throughout the evening.

Light refreshments will be served.

Storytime in French for children of all ages and skill levels.

Pop-up booksCome into the library on Thursday evenings for stories, songs, crafts and fun for the whole family. For this program, we will be using some of our special collection of pop-up books. 

At story time, the librarians will give a short presentation on our collection of pop-up books, some of which are very delicate and must be handled with care. Many of these books are very delicate and not available to check out, but you will be able to read them and handle them in the library!

Please note that young children must handle pop-up books with a parent.

We will also have a craft where you can get started on making your own pop-up cards and other craft creations.

Recommended for ages 4-12.

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction SitePut on your pajamas, grab your teddy bear and join us in the Children's Room for a story time before heading to bed! 

We'll read stories, sing songs, and perform finger plays together.  

Thursday evenings at 6 p.m.

bookwormWe will sing songs, read books and perform finger plays! Pajama story time is best children ages 2-5 and their adults, but older and younger children are also welcome.

This program will last approximately 20-30 minutes and will take place in the Children's Story Circle.

Pajamas are welcome but not required!
