Charlie and the Chocolate Factory CoverJoin Rosedale's Reel Reading Book Club! Kids read a book and then watch the movie that the book inspired, or the movie that inspired the book. Kids can enjoy a brief group discussion as well!

April's book is Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which spawned two movies! The kids will get to vote on which one they want to watch: 1971 version and the 2005 version.

james and the giant peach cover imageFor April's Read-Out! we will be reading the first few chapters of James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. After we finish, snacks will be provided and copies of the book will be available to be checked out.

Why is the peach so giant? Come to Read-Out and find out!

This program is appropriate for children ages 9-12 and will be held in the Children's Story Circle.

Join our Braille Book Club for Kids which is for children in grades 1-6 (and their parents) who are Braille readers. This program is sponsored in partnership with Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.

The Braille Book Club for Kids meets the first Saturday of every month, at 11 a.m. (except holidays or as advertised) in the Adaptive Services Division, Room 215.

Better Nate Than EverThis month we are reading Better Nate Than Ever by Tim Federle. With help from his “BFF” Libby, 13-year-old Nate plots to escape his small town to audition on Broadway, resulting in hilarious misadventures while learning a little more about being himself.

  • Pick up a copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at your library
  • Read the book* at home, at school, at the library. . . wherever.
  • Come to the book club meeting for discussion, activities, and PIZZA!

*If you’ve already read the book, please re-read it before the book club meeting, and don’t forget to bring the book with you.
