Most of these resorts closed down in the 1980s or '90's, so they are virtually "gone with the wind," but they left a huge influence on American culture.

The play is part two of Neil Simon's Eugene Trilogy, which also includes Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound. The role of Eugene was played by Matthew Broderick on Broadway, and Broderick also stars in the movie version, which was directed by Mike Nichols.
