Live to Read
Live to Read, D.C.'s citywide celebration of literature, presented by the Humanities Council of Washington D.C., will take place this year from May 1 through May 15.
Live to Read 2013 will kick off in style on May 1 at 6 p.m. at Deanwood Library. Join us for a reception and author talk as we prepare to read Bombingham by Anthony Grooms and The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis. Anthony Grooms will read from his book and lead a discussion; the first 200 attendees will get a free copy of Bombingham! Join us for a wonderful intergenerational program for teens and seniors.
The 2013 selections, Bombingham by Anthony Grooms and The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis -- were chosen to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a climactic series of events that transformed the America's Civil Rights Movement both in Birmingham, Alabama and Washington, D.C.
Please join us in revitalizing the role of reading in our community.
