Long Island wildfire
Massive brush fires erupted throughout Suffolk County as high winds and dry conditions facilitated the spread of the flames. Fire agencies from across Long Island worked to extinguish the blazes, which eventually transformed into a wildfire that burned more than 1,000 acres April 9-11, 2012.
