Smithtown school board president Gladys Waldron has been sworn in for her third one-year term.
Waldron, a board member for 36 years, and vice president Theresa Knox were unanimously re-elected at a July 2 board meeting.

Summer events for middle-school youth The Smithtown Youth Bureau is offering a pool party and classes on leadership and effective parenting.
The bureau’s annual “Safe Summer Nights” program plans to hold its first pool party at 6 p.m. on July 15, at the Smithtown Landing Country Club, and will have a scavenger hunt at 6 p.m. on July 30 at Hoyt Farm in Commack.

The Town of Smithtown will receive more than $6 million in federal reimbursements for superstorm Sandy cleanup costs.
