A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday for the first phase of development in the Town of Babylon’s Wyandanch revitalization project.

The groundbreaking will start at noon just north of the Long Island Rail Road station, at the site where two apartment buildings will be constructed. The event will feature music and activities as well as speeches from federal, state and local officials.

Suffolk police offer teen crash avoidance lesson

The Suffolk County Police Department is offering a free course to teenage drivers on how to avoid crashes.

The 2 1/2-hour session will be held next week and will offer drivers guidance on how to avoid dangerous driving situations.

The Suffolk County Police Athletic League is hosting fishing trips for children on the Great South Bay.

The outings will be held at the Captree Boat Basin in Babylon every Wednesday from July 10 to Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $15 per child and includes poles and bait, plus cleaning of fish.

A “Shed the Meds” program will be held Saturday in Lindenhurst and Bellmore.

The Town of Babylon is holding a free senior identification card program on Wednesday.

The program, sponsored by the town and state Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. (R-Merrick), will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Tanner Park Senior Center in Copiague.
