Suffolk PAL to host youth fishing trips

The Suffolk County Police Athletic League is hosting fishing trips for children on the Great South Bay.
The outings will be held at the Captree Boat Basin in Babylon every Wednesday from July 10 to Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $15 per child and includes poles and bait, plus cleaning of fish.

With local businesses still adjusting post-Sandy, the Village Foundation of East Rockaway knew it would be a challenge to organize the annual three-day Stars and Stripes Festival along the Main Street waterfront.

North Hempstead Town and the Great Neck Arts Center have announced the 2013 Furman Film Series, a round of screenings followed by discussions with filmmakers.

The Shelter Island town board will likely vote on a modified version of a “dark skies” law when it meets later this month.
