Bonnie R. Cohen
Bonnie R. Cohen is currently Vice President of the District of Columbia Library Board of Trustees.
She is a consultant specializing in management and financial issues. Cohen serves on the Board of Cohen and Steers Mutual Funds (no relation), a $25 billion family of mutual funds.
In 2009, Cohen was appointed by President Obama for a six-year term to the Defense Business Board. The Defense Business Board provides advice to the Secretary of Defense based on best business practices from the private sector.
She is a Board Member of the Woods Hole Research Center as well as the Telluride Mountain Film Festival, Vice Chair of the Board of the Global Heritage Fund, and serves on the Advisory Committee of The Posse Foundation DC.
From 1996 to 2000, Cohen was Undersecretary of State for Management, under Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. From 1992-1996, she was Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Policy, Management and Budget under Secretary Bruce Babbitt. Immediately prior to her government service, Cohen was Senior Vice President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Previously, she was Treasurer of the United Mine Workers of America Pension Funds, Investment Chair of the Washington DC Retirement Funds (pension funds for DC teachers, firemen, policemen and judges) and investment consultant to the Stanford University Endowment. She was a founder of the Council of Institutional Investors.
Cohen holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Smith College.
