The Black Voices Book Club Met on December 20, 2010 to discuss Walter Mosley's novel, "Devil In A Blue Dress". This was the 15th novel by a black author the Club has read. This meeting was special because the day was not just for book discussion but also for the first Christmas party ever celebrated by the Club.
Members started arriving half an hour early at Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Library with all kinds of food and beverages, ready to have a good time. Even some library patrons who are not members of the Club joined the celebration. Despite all the fun, the book discussion went on well. It was an evening to be remembered.
New members are invited to join the Book Club. You can still join us at our January 24 meeting to discuss Breena Clarke's novel, "Stand the Storm" or at any time. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk for members and prospective members to check out. To join, call (202) 541-6100 or see a staff at the library.
