Crafty Tales for Toddlers
Monday, 10:30 a.m.
This story time focuses on singing, stories, fingerplays and art. Each session is centered around a theme, and books and songs are generally chosen to support the theme to increase vocabulary and knowledge of a subject. After the story time session, we complete a process-oriented art activity. Process-oriented art is a type of art that focuses on the process used to make the art rather than the product.
Baby Lap Time
Monday, 11:15 a.m.
Ages birth to 16 months
This story time relies heavily on "lap bounces," and songs to underline the importance of singing, talking and reading to your baby. Although they cannot articulate it, babies are constantly learning from the day they are born, and language acquisition starts young. Although we do use some board books, the emphasis is more on interacting with the babies individually. Some manipulatives are used as well, through the use of puppets and instruments at the end during a social time for parents and caregivers to interact.
Preschool Story Time
Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.
Aimed at increasing a child's attention span and teaching fine motor skills, this story time combines books with music, dancing, puppet shows and/or music instruments.
Music and Movement
Wednesday 11:15 a.m.
This is a family story time that teaches cultural awareness through folktales. Each week stories are read, and a craft project is introduced representing a culture or country. This is a relaxed story time to be enjoyed by all.
