Traditionally, the first shopping day of the holiday shopping season, invariably a Friday, is called Black Friday. But why was it named "Black" Friday? Traditionally, retailers were in the "black" (had more profit than debt) by the end of this business day each year. Other ways to celebrate today include Buy Nothing Day, Sinkie Day and National Salesperson Day.
