Happy Halloween from Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library Staff
Published on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 11:25am
Halloween is a favorite of the staff at the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library. Luckily, the library will be open until 9 p.m. on Monday, October 31, so please come celebrate with us between school and trick-or-treating. We will be passing out treats, and will have crafts, spooky stories and face painting for all ages from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Come in costume, so we can see how cute you are!
Also, bring your carved pumpkins. We will display them behind our front circulation desk, and a prize will be awarded for the best pumpkin. ![]()
We also have books to get you in the Halloween spirit. One of my personal favorites is the Hall-o-Weiner by Dav Pilkey of Captain Underpants fame. Full of silly puns and dachshunds, this book is sure to please kids of all ages.
A classic Halloween book for ages 4 and up, Humbug Witch may bring back memories for us old people. A not-so-talented witch tries to be scary but just ends up adorable. Perfect for the adorable little witches in your life, and a fun Halloween read for those who might not be big or brave enough to handle a ghost story yet.
We wish you a happy haunted holiday and hope to see you for trick-or treating!
