Library to anchor mixed-use project

The West End Neighborhood Library, at 1101 24th Street NW, will be rebuilt. The new library will be part of a mixed use project being built by EastBanc real estate development company.

The design, by architect Enrique Norten of
Ten Arquitectos, features a 21,000 square foot library on two levels, with eight stories of residential housing above.

In preparation for construction, the library closed permanently on Sunday, June 8 at 5 p.m.


Interim Library Service


West End Interim Exterior from across the streetDuring construction, interim library services is being provided at 2522 Virginia Ave. NW in the Watergate.  The interim library opened on Monday, June 23. The 4,000 square foot space features separate spaces for children, teens and adults, 20 computers and a meeting room for 40 people.









Interior Rendering of new West End LibraryThe future library will feature welcoming spaces for children, teens and adults. The library will have a large meeting room, two conference rooms and several quiet study rooms. The development also includes a cafe and underground parking.
