Remember the Borscht Belt?

Display on View Through the End of November

"The Borscht Belt" refers to the resort hotels of New York's Catskill Mountains, which acted as an incubator to many of America's best-known comics and entertainers through much of the 20th century.  Most of these resorts closed down in the 1980s or '90's, so they are virtually "gone with the wind," but they left a huge influence on American culture.

Come by the library to remember these amazing resorts and the talented entertainers who were nurtured there.  Here's a little video preview.  We have a selection of books about the Borscht Belt and the people associated with it.
