A stegosaurus! That was my Halloween costume this year. It was green with blue spikes. Cool beans! I went to the dog park and got lots of treats and had oodles of fun. Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, and Thanksgiving is a close second. I already checked out as many Thanksgiving items as I could carry. I got Thanksgiving in the Barn: A Pop-up Book by Nadine Bernard Westcott, A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting, Trucksgiving by Jon Scieszka and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving by Justine Fontes. The fun never ends!

At the library we celebrated France in recognition of the 2011 Kids Euro Festival. Miss Julie found a great book about a dog who went on an adventure in Paris. It was called Come Fly with Me by Satomi Ichikawa. Other good books that combine dogs and France are Moi & Marie Antoinette by Lynn Cullen and A Porc in New York  by Catherine Stock. I was the only PAL dog, so I got a lot of attention. It was my lucky night!

The kids enjoyed special French cookies called madeleines and made Paper Dog Crafts. (Note: Paper Dogs are like Paper Dolls only a lot a whole lot cooler.) Here’s what you need and what you do if you’d like to make a Paper Dog with a Parisian wardrobe.

Supplies

  • Card stock/poster board
  • A doggie image
  • A couple of copies of a Parisian outfit to fit the dog
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Markers/colored pencils/crayons

Steps

  1. Glue the doggie image to the card stock for extra support.
  2. Cut out the doggie on card stock image, and set aside.
  3. Color the Parisian outfits for the doggie to wear.
  4. Cut out the outfits, including the folding tabs.
  5. Create the outfit of your choice by attaching the clothing items to the doggie model.
  6. Enjoy your Paper Doggie craft, or give it to someone to enjoy.

Happy wags,
Pablo
