Wiggle, Wiggle. Wiggle. I wiggle when I’m happy, and I am always happy to visit the library. I love to see the babies. I love to see big kids. I love to see the moms, dads, aunties and grandmas. I love to see the other doggies. I love to see Miss Julie!
Tonight the kids wanted to hear all about my cat, Mariposa. "Mariposa" is a Spanish word that means butterfly. Mariposa likes to flit and flutter all over the house. She might be small compared to me, but she rules! Her favorite game is “Fluster Freddie.” This is how we play. First, she gets on the dining room table, which I should point out, I am never allowed to do, and then she darts to the left and then to the right while I run and try to catch her. She always gets there first and bats me playfully with her paw from her perch on the table, and then she dashes off for me to chase her again. I get so tired and dizzy after one of those games that I have to sit down and read my library books quietly for a bit until I feel more like myself.
And Miss Julie made sure I went home with a stack of books, books for everyone in my house! For Mariposa we chose So Many Butterflies! by Lara Rice Bergen and The Butterfly Alphabet by Kjell Bloch Sandved. For Rebecca we chose Rebecca the Rock ‘n’ Roll Fairy by Daisy Meadows, Princess Rebecca and the Lion Cub by Vivian French, and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm by Kate Douglas Smith Wiggen. And for me, Marvelous Meats and More by John Burstein, A Perfect Pork Stew by Paul Brett Johnson, and The Tex-Mex Grill and Backyard Barbacoa Cookbook by Robb Walsh.
It’s time to crack open one of my savory books!
