Doggie Diaries: Adventures at the Library
|From Ava's Diary: Tuesday, December 13, 2011|
Tonight I wore my special collar light so that I would be very visible. And, I thought the kids would get a kick out of it. They did! I demonstrated all the options: solid bright light, flashing light, super-fast pulse flash. It’s a cool little device, and it keeps me safe. I want people to know when Ava’s in the house.
I also wore my “Cookie Monster” shirt. Not as in the Cookie Monster guy from Cookie Rhyme, Cookie Time by Abigail Tabby, but as in me, Ava, the queen of cookie consumption. I love cookies!
Miss Julie loaded me up with all kinds of cookie-making books. My book bag was heavy with: Christmas Cookies: A Holiday Cook Book by Susan Devons, The Greatest Cookies Ever: Dozens of Delicious, Chewy, Chunky, Fun & Foolproof Recipes by Rose Dunnington and Bake and Make Amazing Cookies by Elizabeth MacLeod.
I was well-accessorized this evening at the library. My accessories say a lot about me. They say: I am a safety-conscience girl, I love cookies, I like to be toasty warm, and I am in the holiday spirit – I wore my green and green decorative bow tie as well!
The books I choose say a lot about me, too. They say: I love cookies, I love nature walks, and I am learning American Sign Language. Miss Julie knows I like to hike around the Jefferson Memorial, so in addition to my cookie books, she gave me Hello, Washington, DC! by Candice Ransom. And she is impressed with my efforts to learn to speak without words so she gave me Baby Signs: A Baby-Sized Guide to Speaking with Sign Language by Joy Allen, My Very First Signs by Heather J. Rosas, and I Want – Teaching Your Baby to Sign by Lora Heller.
Off to bake some cookies and then hit the books!
