Book Talks and More

West End Partners with School Without Walls

On December 10, West End library associate Erin Bush traveled to School Without Walls for the very first library book talk in their brand-new building, located on the campus of The George Washington University.

The theme of this book talk was "Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Adventure," and Erin presented several great new teen books, including The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Lips Touch: Three Times by Laini Taylor, and Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. Other titles were also available for students to browse.

Twenty-six students attended during their lunch break; many of them checked out books, and four students signed up for new library cards.

This event was made possible by a partnership between the West End Library and Ms. Shari Vollin, the librarian at School Without Walls. Both Erin and Shari are passionate supporters of teen reading, and are very excited about getting more great books into the hands of high school students.
