An Opera Lecture/Demonstration for Children
Learn about two exceptional black women of D.C., Mary Cardwell Dawson and Madame Lillian Evanti, who made history and international news in crossing a barrier of footlights in the opera world.
The program will include musical selections from Verdi's La Traviata and Aida, performed by Washington National Opera artists and will highlight Washington, D.C., cultural history and local historic African-American accomplishments in opera.
