You may have noticed that a couple of zeppelins have appeared at the corner of 9th and G streets N.W. on the outside of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.
This is part of the 5x5 public art initiative from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, running until May 12. The piece, titled "Hawk and Dove," is by a Newcastle, U.K.,-based artist. Isabella Streffen, and was curated as part of Richard Hollinshead’s overall 5x5 project "Magnificent Distance."
Later this month, there will be a screening of the film that Streffen made here at Martin Luther King Jr. Library (projected from the 4th floor window facing 9th Street) and at the Library of Congress.
