"Black Wax": Film and Discussion about Gil Scott-Heron

photo of Black Wax DVDIn honor of both Jazz and Poetry Appreciation month, the Black Studies Center honors the life and work of poet, musician, social activist and self-proclaimed "bluesologist" Gil Scott-Heron by showing the film, "Black Wax."  WPFW radio host Wayne Tucker, also a personal friend of Heron's, will introduce this film, which was shot in Washington, D.C. in 1982.

After the film, ask questions or share your thoughts and memories of the inimitable Gil Scott-Heron in a discussion led by Tucker. This program takes place in the Black Studies Center, Room 316 of the MLK Jr. Memorial Library at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 23.

We look forward to seeing you!
