Investigate! Be a Conservator: Learn about conserving historical documents in this interactive workshop.
Kids will watch a short film and then read Ruth and the Green Book by Calvin Ramsey as a group.
Next, children will be guided through an activity to determine the damage inflicted upon historical artifacts.
They’ll put on white cotton gloves and analyze authentic artifacts, record observations and determine a preservation plan for each object. Students will keep their gloves and be inspired to go home to preserve their own family history.
For ages 8-11.
This program is made possible through a partnership with the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture.
