Teen Summer Safety: Be Smart! Be Safe!

The community joined Dr. David Shapiro on Monday for an informative session on how to have a safe and fun-filled summer.
Dr. Shapiro will share basic safety tips and will be available to answer any questions or concerns you might have.
An acute care, trauma and critical care surgeon from Hartford, Conn., Dr. Shapiro is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a council member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is the director of The Surgical Specialty Clinics and the Associate Director of Critical Care at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He is a patient safety expert and a fellow of the National Patient Safety Foundation.
Dr. Shapiro is an injury prevention advocate and works with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Connecticut DMV. He has participated in a documentary on gun violence in his region and has special interest in helping young adults make healthy decisions.
The event, open to ages 13-18 in the Teen Space at MLK Jr. Memorial Library, offered light refreshments and fun giveaways.
