Dream Big, Read!

Summer Reading for Kids is Going Strong at Mount Pleasant

Summer Reading LogoCalling all kids and parents!

Did you know that the District of Columbia's 2012 Summer Reading Program kicked off on May 14?  If you haven't signed up yet, no worries! We want you to read all summer, so come on in any time between now and August 24 to pick up your booklet to log your reading goals.

If you complete the program, you'll be entered into a drawing for a chance to win some really cool prizes!

How It Works:

Your reading logbook has a page for every week of the program, which runs May 14 to Aug. 24.
  • Record your reading in each page.
  • Place a star in your logbook for every 15 minutes spent reading or attending a library program.
  • Read at least 8 hours during the summer to complete the program.
  • Bring your completed logbook to your neighborhood library to be eligible to win a prize.
Also, students who will be in fifth and sixth grades in the fall can enter an essay contest, "A Book that Shaped Me," for a chance to win even more prizes.

So come on in to the Mount Pleasant Library, and be sure not to miss out on any of our fun Summer Reading Programs!
