Calling all Teens: Sign up for Summer Reading
Published on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 - 10:04am
This year's summer reading program for teens kicked off May 14 and runs until Aug. 24. But it's not too late for you to sign up. You'll even receive a prize just for signing up!
After reading six books, teens are entered into a raffle where they can win an iPad, an e-reader or a an iPod Nano. You can even get credit toward your summer reading goal by attending summer reading programs going on all summer at all DCPL branches and entering in the program name (title), artist or performer (author) and a brief reflection on the program (description). Drawings for the prizes will take place August 24, so all books or summer reading programs must be entered by then to qualify.
And while you're at it, why not join us Saturday, June 2 for our Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off event at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.? There'll be refreshments, raffles every hour, games, live music from Cops Come Knockin', and even an author talk with Kim Purcell, author of Trafficked. See you there!
