Jazz Conversations with Marcus Johnson
Published on Friday, June 8, 2012 - 11:17am
On Saturday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m., East River Jazz will host an exclusive engagement with DC-based jazz recording artist, publisher, producer, attorney and entrepreneur, Marcus Johnson at the Anacostia Neighborhood Library. Marcus Johnson will share his life journey from a self-taught musician of his youth to a successful businessman who travels the world sharing his innovative interpretations of jazz music.
Throughout his career, Johnson has found an artful balance between music, business, and the law. With a JD/MBA from Georgetown University, he is a Billboard-ranked jazz musician, having recorded more than 15 studio albums, all while being nominated for an NAACP Image Award, winning the Small Business Association's Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and starting and expanding a series of lifestyle branding companies, focusing on the intersection of music, art, wine, and travel.
We encourage audience participation in what will be an exciting and informative dialogue with one of D.C.'s finest community empowerment advocates.
Guests will also be able to reserve a copy of various entertainment law books, such as The Future of the Music Business : How to Succeed with the New Digital Technologies : A Guide for Artists and Entrepreneurs by Steve Gordon. This program will be great for the jazz lover in you, as well as aspiring musicians.
