"Story Time" spelled out on a flannel boardStarting on Aug. 21, the weekly story time sessions at Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Neighborhood Library will be combined into one weekly program that will take place on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Children ages infant to five years, and their parents or caregivers, will meet in the Activity Room on the second floor of the library for approximately 30 minutes of story time fun followed by an opportunity for community playtime.

About Preschool Story Time is a story time program for children ages infant to five years (and their parents or caregivers), specially designed to deliver the pre-literacy and early literacy skills that will prepare children to successfully learn to read once they enter school.

These essential skills are presented in a fun package that includes stories, visuals, music, movement, and rhyme. The activities from Preschool Story Time (such as rhymes & chants, songs, stretches, and even picture books) can easily be repeated at home, allowing parents and caregivers to play an active role in their children's early literacy learning!
