Join us for films about people who overcame extraordinary circumstances. We will show the movies in the large lower-level meeting room. All movies will start at 6 p.m., except Into the Wild, which will begin at 5 p.m.
Sept. 4 -- Rescue Dawn (2006)

When U.S. fighter pilot Dieter Dengler is shot down over one of the most intense front lines in the Vietnam War, his troubles were just beginning. He is captured by the Vietnamese Army and endures a harrowing stint in a prison camp before he risks the perils of the jungle to survive.
Sept. 11 -- Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002)

In 1931, Molly and her younger cousins, Gracie and Daisy, were seized from their home in western Australia. The girls were "half-caste" and the government sent them to an institution to re-invent them as members of "white" Australian society. The girls begin an epic journey back home - traveling 1,500 miles on foot without food or water. They navigate by following a fence that was built to curb an over-population of rabbits.

The forests of Poland and Belarus are occupied by Germans during World War II. The Bielski brothers flee to the forests but find an impossible task of survival for themselves and a large group of Jews fleeing the Nazis. The brothers balance a fear of discovery and tensions with neighboring Soviet partisans. They assume the responsibility of guardians and motivate hundreds of people to join their fight against the Nazi regime while hiding in makeshift homes in the cold, dark forest. Based on a true story.
