Saturday Morning and Wednesday Evening Sessions

Wednesday Evening Reading Club at Shaw LibraryBy popular demand, the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library will host a second Reading Club that will meet on the
last Wednesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Both groups will focus on the works of Nobel Laureates in Literature and other classics. 

The Evening Reading Group will meet for the first time on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. (conference room on the second floor). The selection for the October meeting is Hunger by Knut Hamsun. Copies of the book will be available at the check-out desk. 

The Saturday Morning Reading Club started in November 2011 and discussed the following to date:
The Golden Notebook - Doris Lessing
The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner
The Great Gatsby - Scott Fitzgerald
The Glass Bead Game - Hermann Hesse
Mrs. Dalloway - Virginia Woolf
Disgrace - J. M. Coetzee
The Bluest Eye - Toni Morrison
Hunger - Knut Hamsun.  

We finish the year out with The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Voss - Patrick White and Daisy Miller - Henry James.
