'Louise Penny's Still Life'
Published on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 - 8:35am
On Oct. 4, join us to discuss Still Life, the first in the Inspector Armand Gamache series, now in its eighth volume. The book won an impressive number of awards for first novel, including the New Blood Dagger from the Crime Writers' Association and was named one of the five Mystery/Crime Novels of the Decade by Deadly Pleasures magazine. The author went on to become the first writer to win the Agatha Award for Best Novel four times.
Featuring Inspector Gamache of the Surete du Quebec and his supporting staff, the series portrays bilingual, bi-cultural Quebecois life through authentically drawn characters' contrasting hidden and public lives. The sense of place (and climate) vividly draws the reader into Gamache's world.
