What happens when writer Mickey Spillane and director Robert Aldrich team up in the middle of Red Scare-era America? The result, Kiss Me Deadly, presents Spillane’s morally bankrupt detective, Mike Hammer, who is sucked into the quest for a “Pandora’s Box,” the “great whatsit” at the center of this tale of violence, greed, and Cold War paranoia.
