Fiction Lover's Film Companion: 'A Simple Twist of Fate'

Heartbroken over infidelity in his marriage, a divorced man retreats into the solitary life of a furniture maker in rural Virginia. One day, he discovers that a seemingly orphaned toddler has wandered into his home and into his heart. He adopts her, not knowing that sooner or later a wealthy local politician will decide to claim her as his own.
