|After reading the book Reading Lolita in Tehran, view an exhibit of photos, books and videos on the culture and customs of the city of Tehran.
Tehran, sometimes spelled Teheran, is the capital of Iran and the Tehran Province. It is also Iran's largest urban area and city. The city is home to many historic mosques, churches and synagogues. Contemporary Tehran is a modern city. Approximately 98 percent of the population speaks Persian.
View photos of traditional homes and foods, people in traditional dress, a mosque and mausoleum, Freedom Square and a modern subway system.
