Have You Read...?

In Tender at the Bone, Ruth Reichl writes about her unconventional upbringing and includes some great recipes she learned from people who influenced her life. Ruth had to learn to cook because, as the reader finds out, her mother was notorious for serving old, moldy food and even poisoned an entire dinner party.
This memoir will make the reader laugh at the behavior of her somewhat crazy but well-meaning mother. For instance, Ruth is suddenly picked up from school in New York City one day and deposited in a boarding school in Montreal without any prior warning. The reader will be amazed by this memoir and wonder how Ruth managed to become a successful food writer.
If you enjoy memoirs like The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, you will definitely like this book -- one of several by Ruth Reichl.
