daBook Club January Read
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, daBook Club will read the graphic novel Still I Rise, a book about the African experience in America. The novel examines the history of African Americans pre-slavery all the way to the inauguration of the United States' first black president, Barack Obama.
Despite its impressive scope, this short graphic novel manages to successfully condense and enormous amount of history into its pages, making this a quick and relatively easy read. At times hilarious, though heart-breaking in its vision of the truth, Still I Rise successfully captures the struggles and adversity specific to the African heritage in America.
Pick up a copy of this great graphic novel at the front desk. The book discussion will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.
After the discussion, there will be a pizza party!
