Fiber Arts Workshop Changes Meeting Day
Published on Friday, January 25, 2013 - 2:23pm
Beginning on Feb. 28, at 7 p.m., the Fiber Arts Workshop will meet on the fourth Thursday of the month. Bring your own project and enjoy the company of other fiber artists. Discussing projects and materials and helping each other figure out difficulties is part of our shared experience. If you are beginner, we provide one-on-one instruction and have available donated supplies appropriate for getting you started.
June Hemmons Hiatt's Principles of Knitting is a wonderful resource for beginning and experienced knitters alike. First published in 1988, completely revised and updated for the 2012 edition, it is the most complete reference book on the subject.
Organized into eight sections (Learning and Methods, Constructing a Fabric, Decorative Techniques, Special Fabrics, Stitch and Color Patterns, Pattern Design, Materials, and Working a Project), starting with basic learning and working through to finishing techniques, you are sure to find new information or a different approach to a problem or technique. At 712 pages, this isn't a book you will read from cover to cover, but one which you will dip into over and over again, always coming away with a deeper understanding of the craft.
